Recent research suggests that exposure to blue light before sleep may distort your natural (circadian) rhythm and cause inability to fall asleep.

The cause is the photoreceptor in your eyes, called Melanopsin. This receptor is sensitive to a narrow band of blue light in the 460-480nm range which may suppress Melatonin productiona hormone responsible for your healthy sleep-wake cycles.

In experimental scientific studies it has been shown an average person reading on a tablet or smart phone for a couple of hours before bed time may find their sleep delayed by about an hour.

The Twilight app makes your device screen adapt to the time of the day. It filters the flux of blue light emitted by your phone or tablet after sunset and protects your eyes with a soft and pleasant red filter. The filter intensity is smoothly adjusted to the sun cycle based on your local sunset and sunrise times.

1) Bed reading: Twilight is more pleasant on the eyes for night reading. Especially as it is able to lower the screen backlight far below the ability of the backligt controls on your screen

2) AMOLED screens: We have tested Twilight on an AMOLED screen for 2.5 years without any sign of depletion or over-burning. If properly configured Twilight causes less light emission (by enabling dimming) with more equal light distribution (dark areas of the screen such as the status bar get tinted). This may in fact increase your AMOLED screen life time.

  • Dear developers: I have adored this app for years on my s5. I just updated to an s8, and had it still working perfectlyUntil I updated the android software last night. Sekarang, it doesn’t draw over the status bar at the top of the screen, or the navigation bar on the right hand side. It results in bright, bright light straight to my face during nighttime while trying to use my phone. I have gone through twilight settings looking for a fix to no avail. Please solve this issue, or guide me to fix it. I miss not having this issue, and will need to start looking at other apps if it is not solved.
  • Incredible! I originally downloaded Twilight to help me fall asleep easier, but it came with the completely unexpected benefit of drastically helping my migraines. It’s been a total game changer for me. I keep the filters on all day long unless I’m in direct sunlight and need the extra brightness to see. Very simple interface, and lots of customization.
  • The program is great, but there are other apps/programs that will not work while twilight is active. Some fix, just to pause twilight, but it would be great if they could figure a way to play nice with the password entry pages on some websites/apps/programs. That’s the only time it does not work. Juli 2018 memperbarui: Still having issues after the recent update. Cannot use twilight and Facebook app together. That’s actually ok. Just a heads up.
